Snowflake Volunteers Privacy Policy

This privacy policy refers to the Snowflake Volunteers Android application.

Once you enable the application your phone and IP address becomes a Snowflake proxy. To provide basic functionality, Snowflake proxies (like the app you installed in your phone) use WebRTC to make direct connections with Snowflake users. As a part of the WebRTC protocol, your proxy will send some metadata to the Snowflake broker about the proxy's networking setup. This metadata is, exhaustively:

This information is needed to connect a proxy (your app) with compatible Tor users. None of this data is logged or stored on disk by either the Snowflake app or the broker; it is only kept in memory for the duration of the proxy's connection to the broker and the user. The broker is a server controlled by the Tor Project. For more information on all the data that the proxy (your app) sends to the broker, you can access the public specification.

Configuration preferences and usage statistics are stored locally in your device and are never transferred anywhere else outside your device.

The Android operating system may automatically collect reports regarding the performance of the application. Those reports are stored and managed by Google. But we have no access to any personally identifiable information from them.
